Politics unspun

Some politicians don’t tell the whole truth about coal in the UK, in the hope of political point-scoring.  The reality is often more complex. Decisions on coal in the UK can affect our communities, health, and climate. It’s therefore vital these decisions are based on verifiable facts, not misleading slogans.

We unpack politicians’ public comments on coal, show the data on that says, and point to independent sources so you can check for yourself. This is to help you make informed choices and challenge misleading political messages.

“You won’t get me down in your mine” by British singer-songwriter Colin Wilkie in 1963 paints a different picture from what politicians like to create. We doubt those politicians would last a day down the pits they talk about reopening. Take a listen here:
